We are seeking three Kaiwhakatere Ako to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. All these positions are due to begin in January 2026.
Mō te tūranga mahi – About the roles
The purpose of these roles is to provide support to tamariki and rangatahi who are chronically absent or non-enrolled in school. Assessing and providing practical support with wrap around services to whānau to overcome attendance barriers and re-engage with education.

- Promote student identity, language and culture within the education environment.
Mōu – About you
To be effective in these positions you will understand the social, health, education and economic issues whānau face on a day-to-day basis. Be empathetic and considerate in your approach with a commitment to finding the best solutions for all involved. Able to build and foster relationships with all key stakeholders
Our ideal candidates will have:
- Knowledge and understanding of school enrollment and absence procedures
- Excellent communication skills in English and Te Reo as required
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Established networks in the community with knowledge of iwi, hapū and whānau in Te Tauihu ō te Waka ā Maui
- Demonstrated knowledge of te reo me ōna tikanga ō Te Tauihu
- Proficiency in MS applications and report writing
- A full clean driver’s license
