Whare Puāwai Bookings

Poipoia te kākano, kia puāwai

Whare Puāwai is an extension of Whakatū Marae, grounded in the core values and practices of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga, and aroha.

Established in 2025, Whare Puāwai was developed as an off-site educational space dedicated to supporting rangatahi. Operating under the umbrella of Whakatū Marae, it provides a culturally responsive environment that nurtures learning, personal growth, and a strong sense of identity and belonging. The space upholds a strict smoke-free, drug-free, and alcohol-free policy to ensure a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all.

Our Whāinga

This space is dedicated to rangatahi as a safe, inclusive environment to learn, grow, and express themselves. It is grounded in tikanga Māori values that guide how we care for the space, ourselves, and each other.

We also warmly welcome the wider community to hire this space for wānanga and hui, supporting connection, shared learning, and the strengthening of our community.

Our Tikanga

Our space is guided by tikanga Māori and a shared commitment to respect, care, and community. We ask everyone to contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.

Show manaakitanga by being kind, respectful, and considerate.
Build connection through whanaungatanga, work together in the spirit of kotahitanga, and take responsibility through rangatiratanga.

Care for the space and its resources as kaitiaki, by leaving everything in great condition.
Arrive and leave within your booking time, including setup and pack-down, and leave the space ready for others.
Before leaving, please ensure the space is clean, equipment is returned, rubbish is removed, and the area is secure if required.

This is a smoke-free, vape-free, alcohol-free, and drug-free space.
