Hangi Pit

Whakatu Marae has a Hangi Pit situated at the back of our Wharekai. There are a number of reasons why this pit is used e.g. to accompany bookings; groups, fundraising, private functions, celebration, marae functions etc. Because of the demand we receive to use the hangi pit, WM has guidelines as to how it is utilised. The following is detail:

​- $50.00+gst
​- This fee is for use of the hangi pit ONLY

Hangi Fundraiser

- $50.00+gst plus koha

- This fee is for use of the hangi & Mauriora/wharekai
​
- Due to loss and theft, we no longer allow use of the marae  hangi equipment

- Groups will need to bring in their own equipment from wood,  sacks, irons, baskets etc

Location

Whakatū Marae is located between Founders Park and Miyazu Japanese Gardens. Office and services are located in the long building next to Founders Park, at the far end of the long veranda.
