Ahumahi

Whakatū Marae is funded primarily through the Ministry of Social Development to provide programmes and services for at risk tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau living within the Nelson, Richmond, Tapawera and Motueka district.

Programmes include;
- Comprehensive Social Work to whānau and individuals
- Counselling, focusing on the protection of vulnerable tamariki and rangatahi
- Wrap around services and intensive support for Rangatahi under 'Fresh Start' Programmes
- Therapeutic Mentoring Programmes
- Te Aratika, programmes to develop and sustain pro-social attitudes and values for Rangatahi through Waka Ama
- Services for whānau that restore safety and mauri/wellbeing in homes
- Domestic Violence Programmes (adults)

Location

Whakatū Marae is located between Founders Park and Miyazu Japanese Gardens. Office and services are located in the long building next to Founders Park, at the far end of the long veranda.
